Elston Village Hall is committed to encouraging a supportive and inclusive culture amongst its community by creating a positive place where everyone can enjoy an environment which is safe, enjoyable and respectful.
This policy reinforces our commitment to providing equality and fairness to all in our hirers and volunteers and to avoid less favourable facilities or treatment on the grounds of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, national origin, religion or belief, or sex and sexual orientation. We are opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.
Our aim is to ensure that all hirers and volunteers are given equal opportunity and that our organisation is representative of all sections of society. All hirers and volunteers will be treated fairly and with respect. We will provide help and encouragement to develop all our staff to their full potential and utilise their unique talents.
When we select candidates for the Management Committee or other positions, it will be on the basis of their aptitude and ability.

All hirers, volunteers and village hall event attendees are required to assist us in meeting our commitments, to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion and avoid unlawful discrimination.
We consider acts of discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation as unacceptable behaviour and hirers supporting this behaviour will result in the hall not be available for hire to those persons in the future.
We aim to provide a first class visitor experience to all visitors and user groups and are continuously looking to improve accessibility and facilities.
Access to the Hall
The hall is available for hire every day of the week.
The booking calendar is kept updated on the website
www.elstonvillagehall.weebly.com where there is also an on-line booking form.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
The Hall is located off Top Street, post code NG23 5NP, and has pedestrian and vehicle access which is flat and even.
There are no marked spaces in the car park which is also shared by the primary school and the church.
Public Areas – General
The hall can be entered using a gently sloping ramp - with a handrail -that leads to the front double doors. There is also a rear emergency exit that has level access and double doors.
Within Elston Village Hall all doors are double with the exception of the kitchen.
All areas of Elston Village Hall are non-smoking areas.
Public Areas – Toilets
There is one toilet within the Hall for the use of disabled people.
Access is level.
This toilet is unisex and there is no need for a key.
The door opens inwards and locks by a twist lock.
Public Areas – Kitchen
There is a gas cooker, commercial sanitiser/dishwasher, microwave
and fridge/freezer available to all users.
The worktops are at a height where wheelchair users may have some
difficulties.
Hearing Assistance
The Hall has an induction loop installed. It is the responsibility of Hall
users who wish to take advantage of the loop to use suitable
microphones at their event to feed the loop system.
The Hall has microphones and a public address system for this
purpose.
Covid
The Trustees have taken every effort to ensure the safety of their hirers by strictly following Government guidelines. Sanitising products have been provided, a QR code is prominently displayed and safety posters have been placed throughout the building. There is an emergency Covid kit in a secluded section of the hall.
